- Correct; if you disable error correction on your modem, then any
- modems which connect to it will not negoatiate an error-corrected
- connection with it. Most modems, in their default configurations,
- will fall back to a connection without error correction; in many
- modems, it's also possible to configure them to drop the connection
- entirely if they can't negotiate error correction, but chances
- are that very few, if any, of your users would have done that.
